Patrick Murray started Dogwood Gap in 2022 as a student’s solo artist project. The band's lineup has undergone many iterations, the most recent of which has ushered in a new era for Dogwood Gap. No longer the fruits of one man’s labor, the four-piece has found its creative bearings in a rich, collaborative songwriting process that draws from various genres and artistic mediums and finds its wind during live performance.
Hayden Carr-Loize (drums) cites a Blink-182 concert in his tween years as the crowning  influence on his decision to play drums. He has all the tools of a power-drummer, but it’s his background in filmmaking and melodramatic songwriting tendencies that inform his tastefully explosive playing style. To Dogwood Gap, he brings a frenzied yet tethered, steady heartbeat.
Carlie Houser (vocals) is a visual artist whose lyricism is found in literature and in malleable imagery. If Dogwood Gap songs are mounds of clay, she is the artist ensuring that edges are trimmed, and surfaces are sanded before the final product is complete. Her compositional ear has guided countless sessions, helping refine tracks through hours of trial and error.
Patrick Murray (guitar, vocals) started Dogwood Gap in 2022 as a vehicle for a growing cache of half-written, unrecorded songs. His guitar playing has its mooring in a couple of docks: rigorous classical and jazz training in his teenage years, and a childhood dream to become the next Jeff Beck.
Evan Tannenbaum (bass) is a string whisperer. A classically trained cellist, Evan initially joined Dogwood Gap as a second guitarist but seamlessly made the switch to bass when the band decided to slim down for the new year. His ear is fine tuned to Hayden’s drumming, but his powerful rhythmic sensibilities never overshadow his ability to create sectional identity through subtle melodic choices and controlled dynamics.
